Do you go to church at a cult? How can you know? Whether it be that someone you know attends a place of worship that feels "cult-like" or whether someone has said this about your place of worship, it often feels like the "ultimate" way to end a debate. But what is a cult anyway? And how can we find common ground on what it is? What are some of the concerns that we should consider when thinking about cult like behaviors? The Book of James...the 59th book in the Bible. It is a hard hitting book written to help Christians live steadfastly for Jesus. Doug Edwards wrote a commentary on this book for the "Contending for the Faith" commentary series. He also preached six expository studies on James recently at the Valley Parkway Church of Christ. During that meeting, he sat down with PSB to discuss this short epistle. This multi-episode series takes the listener on a journey to better understand and value this wonderful book.

Deconstructing Doubt

Doubt. It can be a dirty word within a local church community. Doubt can imply weakness or little faith. And no one wants to be weak. No one wants to be accused of little faith. So, what happens when someone has doubts? Sadly, sometimes the fear of vulnerability or the arrogance of self-reliance leads to leaving. And doubt never gets to be addressed, and the cycle goes on. Today's study questions include:
*What exactly is doubt anyway?
**What Scripture can we look to concerning doubt?
***How can we foster a sense of trust and truth within our local church community so that when one of us has doubt, the other can respond appropriately?

How Can I Have Peace?

Peace. It’s what we are all after. How do we get it? Why has it been difficult to obtain in life? Is it really so elusive to all mankind or are there some individuals that have found it? How, indeed, can we have peace?
Those who keep the law of God in their hearts and obey it in their actions add peace to their lives. Rather than seeking peace as an end, we should seek to follow Christ. When we do we will find that peace comes as a side effect that we receive from Him.

Reasonable Faith

Where does a Christian begin when trying to explain the supremacy of Christ? Why Christianity over skepticism, Buddhism, Hinduism, Islam or Secular Humanism? There are four questions that demonstrate that Christianity is the most reasonable worldview. One does not have to be an expert on world religions and philosophies to present an adequate defense of the gospel. If you can answer “YES” to these 4 questions, then Christianity is true and it’s the only view of the world that correctly explains: who we are, where we came from, why we are here, and where are we going.
